Six.

Lindsey woke as a brand new 6 year old....complete with bedhead and our traditional cinnamon rolls in the shape of a 6. Oh yeah, and chocolate milk. Bet those camp counselors loved me:)
We had, per her request, grilled pork chops, rice, corn-on-the-cob, pumpkin muffins and cake. How do you think my sunflower cake turned out? Not bad, but not good when you are following Janice the Great...you don't believe me? Look at this one she made for Lindsey's birthday last year and this one for my baby shower. I speak the truth. Lindsey blowing out candles....can someone tell me how to lose the candles on her forehead? It happens everytime to me, not sure why.
Present time was as exciting as it always is. Grandma & Grandpa gave her Hello Kitty rain boots(cause she NEEDED them, ya know) and she couldn't wait to try them on. Once she saw that there were other gifts to open she decided to
let Natalie wear em for awhile.
She rec'd a wide variety of things and loved all of it. It seemed everyone had bought her one item that she had been really, really wanting...so she was pretty lucky.

During all the chaos, Charles was able to grab a couple of pics of me & the birthday girl. I love you so, Lindsey lou-lou....Can't wait to see what you do this year!

July "Monthly Special" :Architechural Detail

Marc's challenge this month was a good one. Look at the beauty of detail around you. I actually forgot about the challenge so, I have included some photos from our trip to Disneyland in May..interesting what I gravitate to. Can you see a common theme? It's a small world after all.
A sunflower above a fountain.

And the sunwheel at California Adventure.

Five no more.

My baby girl turning six? Say it isn't so. Happy Birthday to my still innocent, entering 1st grade, sport-loving, sweetheart of a daughter. We love you and are so blessed to have you in our lives!

Rain, rain went away...for Lindsey's birthday!

First, I wanted to thank you all for such nice comments and great ideas. You guys know I was holding out for comments!
When I woke up around 3 am, it was raining so I was sure that we would be having an indoor party, but by 9am is was beautiful out.

They started out potting flowers that they could take home with them. I was surprised that not all of the kids wanted to do that....to each their own.

Even Natalie got in on the action....do you guys love that dress I got on clearance at Gymboree? So cute.

Next up was the watering can race. They had to see who could fill up the bucket the fastest. The kids really liked this game!

And for the next 2 hours the kids were in the pool having a great time. The games they invent are really clever..such imagination.

This is my helper extraordinaire...Madeline. She was here for the party, but she helped me so much. She kept an eye on Natalie and while we all were in the pool...she was my lifeguard eyes. Thanks for all your help, you are the best!

After the pool the kids took all their towels and laid in the yard. One of Lindsey's friends mentioned that "this was the life. I wish I could get a massage while I am here." So funny....

But what was funnier, is one of the girls gave him one! The kids were cracking me up.

The birthday girl relaxing. They were enjoying the yard so much, I brought out their snacks. I of course, have no pics, but I made really cute pb&j sandwiches with flower shaped bread just like Lori mentioned. Along with veggies, chips and

fruit from my mom. She made these cute flower bouquets for me. Thanks Mom!

Which led to cake! YUM! Do you see this adorable cake? AND these adorable sunflower cupcakes. I told you all that Janice made fabulous cakes. They were delicious too.

A little more detail...she is so detail-oriented. Thank you so much Janice for doing this for us, you rock!

After cake and ice cream, it was time for presents! The kids wouldn't let me in with the camera. Most of them that I got were like this one. She was lucky to get some really nice things and don't you wish you had the hair color of her friend. Wow, it's beautiful.

One birthday present surprise I was able to get a photo of was of her brand new bike from the Meyers. She is letting me know we have to get started right away, because she has a cool purple bike with a fun bell. Thanks you guys, it was really generous of you!

Before everyone left we had one more game...find the bee. I blew up a bunch of yellow balloons and made one a bee. Whoever found it got a prize. They enjoyed it.

After everyone left, Lindsey went back outside for more planting . It is one of her favorite things to do. Also, give me extra Mommy points for letting her wear her brand new dress that was supposed to be for her 1st day of school to her party. She looks adorable in it.

There was one cupcake left for Lindsey. Who got a chair and climbed onto the counter to get it this morning? Yep, Natalie has a sweet tooth!

Panic mode.

Okay, I was really hoping that it wouldn't rain tomorrow, but it looks like 60-70% pretty much seals the deal. UGH! It is midnight and I am really worried that the games we have planned will NOT occupy a houseful of kids for 3 hours. Alright, alright...I will stop complaining just as long as you guys head over to my house as promised...yes, I am talking to you Lori & Cristina! Wish us luck or better yet, wish for sunshine!!!!

16 hours from now.

Lindsey's party begins and am I ready? Ya'll know that answer. NO! Why, because I'm on the computer bloggin' instead of cleaning, creating, cooking, and oh yeah...cleaning. This is no news to my family and friends, I am a horrible procrastinator. I push it until there is no time. It is really ridiculous. I end up staying up until 2 or 3 in the morning and am a tremendous grouch leading up to the event. Will I ever learn?

More than dust storms, dust devils and tumbleweeds..

While we do have those, we also have some much prettier things going on.

And I get to see this every night from our back yard....beautiful, right?

Swim, popsicle,sprinkler, wrestle. Repeat.

Almost everyday this summer
we take a swim...so much fun.

grab our towels,
sit on our towels(or seesaw in this case) and enjoy a popsicle,
Turn on the sprinkler(better known as the water hose) and run around. Relaxing right?
Until....................Daddy doesn't make the hose a sprinkler and there is only one stream of water
the smackdown begins.

Just cause she is much much bigger than him...he's not going to let her win.

She fends him off pretty easily at first,
and then he takes her down

or wait...did she take him down? I can't be sure. All that matters is that they laugh the entire time. I love my kids...wonder what there wrestling stage names would be?

Had to add this sweet one of the baby.

Sunday~Hat Edition

We were thinking alot about Papa this weekend.....all of the hats above were his. Are they cute or what?
